tuscany il Borro

Has anyone been to Il Borro in San Giustino Valdarno? I would only be able to spend one night there en route from Rome to Florence via car. I am not trying to put too much on my very short (10 day vacation),but have heard it is amazing. I have a few days in Rome, Florence and Venice and didn't really want another sleeping spot,(trying to take in Rick's advice) but have been told it is worth it. Any opinions?

Ricky, I'm going to tell you this as a friend. You're falling into the trap of trying to see and do everything that you've been told is amazing. I could tell you of 100 other places at least as amazing as Il Borro looks. Would you feel compelled to visit all those in your 10 day vacation? I think not. There are so many amazing places to see in Italy that it would take more than a lifetime. You have to pick and choose. Such is life. Happy travels.

I had to look it up to figure out what this Borro was. I found out that it's an old small village destroyed during the war that the Ferragamo (shoe makers) family has restored and transformed in a sort of fancy resort. So basically it's as fake as the the Venetian in Las Vegas. I lived in Tuscany almost 30 years and driven by it a thousand times and I just now learned about it. I just asked my cousin via email who works 30 min from it, he vaguely heard about it buy he's never been. I'm pretty sure none of my friends in Florence have ever heard of it. I think you can also survive without it. There are thousands of villages in Tuscany that look like that one and are probably cheaper to stay.
