Tuscany house rental suggestions within short walk from town

You could try www.vrbo.com or www.airbnb.com A friend has rented through vrbo several times and recommends it.

I've used vrbo.com and homeaway.com multiple times with good success.

San Gimignano and the other hill towns are on top of steep hills, I'd hate to think I had to walk up one of those hills to restaurants and grocery stores.

We stayed between Certaldo and San Gimignano at an agritursimo, and it's an area of rolling hills, olive farms and wineries. Virtually every farm in the region has apartments and rooms for rent for secondary income.

If you're wanting to stay in the Tuscan countryside, you should really consider renting a car. It's the only way you'll be able to see the amazing travel sights in the region. Roads outside San Gimignano are crooked but well paved and easy to navigate.

AirBNB.com and Booking.com are my favorite places to find accommodations. You can also look at Rick Steves' Graffti Wall for B&B heros.

Another method of finding places to stay is to go on GoogleMaps.com to locate a specific city or place. Then hit the + button to magnify the area. Hotels and accommodations will pop up on the map, and you can click on their websites.

David, we are planning to have rental cars to get around and see the area. I was just thinking that it would be nice to have the option to walk into town at the end of the day for dinner, etc. -- but you make a good point that it could be a tiring uphill walk. So I guess we should consider houses in the countryside farther away from town, or else consider rental apartments right in town.
