Will be in Tuscany with 3 couples and am interested in a hot air balloon ride. It's quite pricey, but looks amazing. Is it worth squeezing into our travel plans? The one we'd take leaves near Montisi. Thanks!

I think everybody should do it once (I have). If conditions are right, it's wonderful. Only you can say whether you want to prioritize this over other options during your travels.

As Janet said, the 'worth' is subjective. We've done a balloon or two in the U.S. and it was fun but I wouldn't trade the time/expense for the things we could ONLY see up close and on the ground in Italy.

Doing last-minute things like that, are great, but like other people have mentioned, it's up to your own perspective at the time. I did that with a helicopter ride up and over the Matterhorn in Zermatt breathtaking and never will forget it. Balloon rides in New Mexico yes. I don't think "I" would pay for the balloon ride over Tuscany, unless they Supply a lot of wine. But I am spending more money than I should on one of the most fantastic & panoramic view hotels in Sorrento, so it's all up to the individual.
