Tuscany during Easter

Hello - My husband, and 9 year old son and I are staying at Agriturismo Poggiacole about 10 min outside of San Gimignano for a week. Our stay will include Good Friday and Easter. We have never been to Italy before and the research I've done suggests San Gimi and Florence will be challenging to navigate on Good Friday and Easter. We don't mind crowds, although I think we will stay away from Florence on Good Friday, but can someone give me a sense for whether or not we can have meals at restaurants impromptu during that week or do you think we need to make reservations every night? I know Good Friday and Easter could be tough, but what about the other days that week? Also, I'm not sure how Easter works in Italy. Should we expect brunches or is dinner the big meal that day? I would love any recommendation on a great restaurant that isn't too fancy. We are willing to drive to Lucca or neighboring town. Thanks!!

I think your post was not answered quickly as it's hard to respond to so many questions at once. I don't have direct experience, but I think you will find numerous places to eat as those cities cater to tourism. I also don't think the crowds will be out of the ordinary as the visitors are not primarily Italian.
