Oh, wise ones! We will be in Florence in June and would like to take a day trip with a small tour group. Which companies have you used and recommend?
Thank you so much, Caryn
Hit the local TI when you arrive in Florence. Their suggestions are always pretty good.
It might be better planning beforehand- if you just turn up in June it is likely that lots of things will be fully booked. Slow days wine tours from Florence are really good. We managed to get a discount when booked with a cooking class at "Cook Eat Italian", also in Florence. They seem to do only small groups. We had 6 people in the cooking class and only four on the wine tour.
Hi Caryn, I posted a very similar question only two days ago. We are in Florence 7/29-8/2 and are trying to decide on a tour. I found Walk About Florence "Best of Tuscany" which hits Pisa, Siena, cool-winery-with-a-name-I-can't-remember, as well as a hill town. I asked the Stevie's about finding a smaller tour - maybe a small car. So far no luck. Since our posts seem to overlap, please keep me posted (pun!) on what you hear. You can send me a private message if you want. Thanks!
If I can nosey and take advantage of your question, my wife and I will be in Florence in early September and would also like to hear suggestions/positive experiences on tours outside of Florence to Pisa, the wine coutnry etc.
We've decided to go with Slow-Days. I'll get back to you on the other company I researched that I can't think of the name right now. Similar tour itineraries, prices, but Slow-Days was mentioned a few more times throughout my research. All positive. I called Simon, one of the tour operators because my credit card doesn't work well with PayPal, and he was very informative and helpful about where he'd pick us up, paying with cash, etc. Slow-Days is e29pp to reserve and then e129pp for the day which is transport, vineyard tour, lunch, castle tour. Our tour is June 24th and I'll post afterward, if that helps. Good luck to you and happy/safe travels!
Try WALK ABOUT FLORENCE. They have several tours to choose from and are well organized.
My husband and I were in Florence last month and booked a day trip through Florence and Tuscany Tours http://www.florenceandtuscanytours.com/index.php. We chose the San Gimignano, Siena & Chianti in one day tour. We had a great tour guide and plenty of time to explore on our own. Good luck planning your trip!
We did a Vespa day tour out of Florence last year. It was a delightful change from being in a city atmosphere. I rode on the back as my husband drove and would recommend that -- I took some fabulous pictures that we wouldn't have if we'd both be on a Vespa. Trip Advisor rates them, but I think we used FlorenceTours. They picked us up 1/2 block off Piazza della Republica, so it was very convenient. we stopped for a morning snack and had lunch at a winery. A fun experience.
