Tuscany Day trip?

My partner and I will be in Florence for three days next month and would like some ideas for day trips out of the city. Ideally we would like something relaxing (no big tours or vespas!) maybe including a vineyard/ wine stop where we can get to see some typical Tuscan scenery. I have found some private tours and drivers online but for two people it works out a bit expensive. Anyone any ideas?

Mark: Try this - take the SITA bus south out of Florence - make sure that it is the one that stays on the S222 - not the superstrada. SITA has a website - it takes a little getting used to but you can figure it out. Just 30km south of Florence - stop in Panzano - a cute little village in the heart of Chianti. There are great little shops, restaurants and wine bars. Panzano is the home of Italy's most famous butcher - Dario Cecchini (google him - you'll love it). Plus there are a number of short walks you can take out of the village and instantly be among fantastic Tuscan scenary - villas, vineyards, olive groves, etc. Lots of great wineries near Panzano too - try one of our favorites - Panzanello. Have fun.
