Tuscany cooking lesson on a budget??

Counting down the days until we leave for Italy! I know my family would really like to do a cooking class together in Tuscany one evening. Any recommendations as to where we should do this where it won't cost an arm and a leg? I have searched google and only come up with classes that are somewhere around 100 Euro a person... and thats just euros...YIKES!!! I would love to have the experience with a real Italian Chef and everything, but I need to find someplace where it is not so expensive. Any experience with cooking lessons in Tuscany?

Cooking classes run 100-150 euro per day. I doubt you'll find a 1-day class for less than that. But if you do please share it with the board!

Our experience in Florence is that a 6-hr cooking class is much closer to 250Euro. We paid 468Euro for both of us. We received a slight discount because we signed up as a couple. Other cooking classes that we checked out were more. I seriously doubt that you will find any cooking class in the 100Euro range.

what I want to do is just go for one evening to cook the dinner and then eat it. it does not need to be one that is 6 hours or a full day. just one night.

Holy Cannolli, that is a lot of money for a cooking class. I'd rather eat out a lot and buy a good cookbook. Do you think Italians would like to come to northeastern Indiana and pay me $100/hour so I can show them true Midwestern cuisine?

Sasha: Don't get your hopes up, it's EXPENSIVE!!!! The idea sounds great and it's something that lots of people want to do but...............Your gonna spend money to do it. Don't know any place that you can cook your dinner and eat it without you spending lots of money.

well, I guess maybe I should give up on the cooking lesson thing... after all, we are going there to relax... perhaps we should just go and pay less money for people to cook for us. I don't know. It seems like a great experience but awfully expensive.

Sasha...my research showed the tuscany cooking classes very expensive for us, but if you are going to Lake como, check into Chef Moreno's class,,,il caminetto.com . ( ouside of varenna ) It is listed in Rick's book and it was only 60 Euros and the best experience ever !!! Very personal and we have a life time friend out of it.

The only place other than Tuscany that we could do a cooking class is Rome
