Tuscany Bike/Wine Tour Advice

Hello! My husband and I are visiting Florence for 3 days in June and want to book a day long bike tour of the Chianti region with wine tasting. I'm torn between two options:

  1. Tuscany Bike tours, which offers a 7 hr, 13 mile ride that stops off at a wine cellar in a 12th century castle to tour and taste their wine. Light lunch at family run restaurant included. €80 per person.

  2. I Bike Tuscany "wine ride", which offers a 9:30 to sunset, 10 mile ride that stops at 3 wineries for tastings and one guided winery tour. Light lunch at winery with stunning view included. €150 per person.

Both options look fantastic!! Has anyone done either of these tours? If so, is it worth the additional money to see multiple wineries and do multiple tastings?

I've not done one of these yet, but I understand "Backroads Tuscany" does a good job. It might be good just for comparison purposes.

Thanks Donna! I appreciate the help.

I actually went ahead and booked with "I Bike Tuscany", they were filling up and I didn't want to lose my spot, so I went for it. :)

Kristina,
I've personally done the http://www.tuscany-biketours.com/ tour and I would easily rate it a 10 out of 10! It was one of the best experiences of our 4 days in Florence. The guides are hilarious (and cute), tour of an old castle, olive oil tastings, wine tasting, great lunch etc. Although if you're wanting more wine tastings the second option might fit your needs more. I felt the tasting at the castle and wine at lunch was plenty for being on a bicycle cruising along amazing vineyards. Either option will be great I'm sure.

I think that Cristiano Bonino of Food.Stories.Travel (http://www.foodstoriestravel.com) could help you in organizing your trip. He is northern italian and now he organizes travels eating and learning, connecting with local food producers who care about the environment, support the local community and believe in sustainable practices. He also organizes wine and bike tours. I traveled with him once and I had an unforgettable experience.

I traveled twice with Ciclismo Classico (www.ciclismoclassico.com) they have amazing bike tours all over Italy combining riding, cultural experiences, wine cellars visits and tastings. They have local guides that can make your travel a unique experience. The last tour I had was "Heart of Tuscany" and I could experience the real Tuscany.
