Tuscany B & B

When we leave CT we are going to drive Venice with a car. We would like to stop in Tuscany, any recommendations on a B&B? We have a car so something up on a hilltop with views are of interest.

It would help if you provided a little more details of your trip. When going? Cities visited? Total time available? Generally speaking, look at Booking.com for rooms in Tuscany. The best prices are at AirB&B.com--which has rooms in individual houses all over the world. This is not going to be the best Spring to be going to Cinque Terre. They're in massive reconstruction after flash floods in October. Many are bypassing it for more dynamic cities such as Florence and Rome. Italy travel between cities is best done by trains. Save your $8.00 gallon gas money for renting cars for day trips in the Tuscany Hill Country and Chianti. Parking in the big cities is $20-30 per day--and a big hassle.

We stayed at Agriturismo Marciano, just outside of Siena. It was one of the highlights of our trip. You can read many reviews on Trip Advisor.

Tracey, we have an excellent recommendation for a B& B just outside of San Gimignano. Our friend Roberto owns Casanova di Pescille and the photos on his website are the real deal! The farmhouse has about seven roms, a beautiful pool, wine cellar and killer breakfasts. Roberto makes his own wine, olive oil and safron. His son recently opened a restaurant on site. It was packed with locals every night of our stay last July. San Gimignano is a real treat at night. The dining choices are great and shopping after the hordes depart is enjoyable. Wait until you see the view of San Gimi from his wine patio! Check out the place but book ahead!
