Looking for suggestions of towns that my group should visit in the Tuscany area. We don't really want to rent a car so looking to stay on the train route and short bus rides if possible or taxi. We have already been to Montelcino and Montepulciano and loved that small town feel. We will be traveling from Florence to Rome. Thanks in advance.
we will only be in the Tuscany area for 4 nights with 1 or 2 of them in Florence, then on to Rome. I think that this portion of the trip I would like to relax and enjoy wine and the scenery, take a winery tour.
so I guess I am looking for suggestions of towns that people like that we can get to easily by train and short bus ride. I know that Orvieto is on the list.
Siena is definitely worth a visit. I haven't been to San Gimignano or volterra, but they are high on my wish list for my next trip.
I forgot to mention that we did Siennalast time along with Montellcino and Montellpulciano
Cortona is worth a visit. Lovely small village with many restaurants and shops. As well as Pienza, although I'm not sure about train service to Pienza.
