Tuscany- Anghiari and food

Hi
I was visiting Tuscany for the first time and stayed for few days in Anghiari. I found the food not good. Restaurants were lousy.
Everyone says Tuscany has best food. But which areas in Tuscany are known for good food? Could be that Anghiari is so small and not visited much by tourists hence bad food?

I was in Anghiari for three nights last summer, was not terribly impressed with the food but it was not bad.

Sanselpocro, about half an hour away by bus, has some excellent restaurants.

"best food" is not something I associate with Tuscany, each region has the "best" of something. I think Tuscany is best known for grilled meats, Emilia-Romagna for stuffed pasta, etc.

One of the best meals we've had in Italy was in Anghiari at Da Alighiero, but that was almost 15 years ago. Was that one of the ones you tried?

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience in Anghiari. A friend and I were there last month and had an outstanding meal at Da Alighiero. There are also some excellent places to eat in Arezzo: Trattoria Mazzone and the Miva location on via San Lorentino (not the one on Piazza Agostino) are among my favorites. These are not high end restaurants and while Miva in particular is very welcoming to tourists, both restaurants more typically serve local families.
