We're planning a trip to the Tuscany region around the end of August 2011, then on to Barcelona via Marseilles, if possible. We're looking for suggestions where to fly into, and suggestions on how to get from Tuscany to Barcelona.

For Tuscany you would want to fly into Florence or Pisa. But Rome could also work, especially if you rent your car right at the airport and head to Tuscany. Bologna is only an hour train from Florence, too.
I would check the low-cost carriers for a flight from Pisa to Barcelona. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one available. Check Vueling. Ryanair might fly that route (though I believe they use Girona as an airport instead of BCN)
