Tuscany Agriturismo recommendations please

I am traveling with my family of 4 to Italy in June and looking to stay a few night in an agriturismo. I have been searching for places mostly outside Pienza/Montepulciano area but I am open to suggestions! It's our first time really exploring Tuscany. Previously, we've just been to Lucca for a day. We will have a car and would like to stay in the countryside.

I'd love some place with a pool and a restaurant- looking for someplace really nice, a little splurgy is ok, but nothing stuffy or formal- family friendly!

Anyone stay anywhere that they've loved? Thanks!

It has been 10 years, but we loved our stay at Collelungo in Castellina in Chianti. I just checked booking.com and Tripadvisor and it seems to still be getting good reviews.

The place is absolutely gorgeous and the nearby hamlet is like something out of a fairy tale. We spent 5 nights there staying in the Pantera apartment. Our girls also loved it and made friends with two girls from another family staying there, so it was one of the highlights for them. While there was not a restaurant on the premises, there are a few good restaurants within a very short drive (5 - 10 mins). We also cooked in one night, dining with the beautiful view from our patio.

We did several day trips from there to Siena, Greve and Florence. Although I would not recommend driving into Florence as we did (very stressful). We had planned on taking the bus from Poggibonsi, however, the bus station is a small, unmanned affair and the machines only took small euro bills (no credit cards) and we did not have enough on us.

Happy travels!

We stayed at Querceto di Castellina near Castellina in Chianti for two weeks after a cruise in 2007. Viewing their website reveals it doesn't appear to have changed much since then.

Accommodations were pretty basic, but comfortable. You would need a car to get around.

We would definitely stay there again...

We just checked out of Torre a Cona which is about an hour south of Florence. It is a large and stunning wine estate in the countryside and the on-site amenities, incl a lovely pool, walkable vineyards/olive tree groves, a winery tour and somewhat upscale restaurant, may fit your needs. They offer horseback riding and truffle hunts, but we didn’t do those. Lastly, a real highlight was dinner in a fabulous restaurant in the nearby town of Figline at L’ AmiciMia, a true Tuscan treat that I’d highly recommend! Bob, the owner, will make your visit memorable! It’s a small place, so reservations recommended to ensure yourself a spot. Have fun!

Staying at a agriturismo isn't like staying at a hotel or a home share. Hospitality services are limited, some expect you to spend some time and pitch-in around the property, at the very least take an interest in what they do. Some places are breakfast only others, do full meals. The place we stayed at up North, didn't allow any less than 4-nights stay. Not recommend if you plan to roll-in, run down the sightseeing checklist and roll-out to the next destination.
