Tuscany Agriturismo Recommendations

We are heading to Italy with another family towards the end of June. I would love recommendations for Agriturismos located centrally between Firenze and Pisa (San Gimignano? Pistoia?) so that we will be able to visit anywhere from Siena to the Cinque Terre if we feel adventurous. Any recommendations?

Also, has anyone ever stayed at any of the following places: Villa Stabbia, Villa Santa Maria, Il Lecci, or Fattoria Mansi Bernardi? They are all listed as agriturismos but I would like to hear about personal experiences before exploring them further.

We'd like a "true Tuscan experience" for ourselves and our children.

Thank You!

Emily,

have you checked Rick's Italy 2008 Guidebook? I believe there are listings for Agriturismo's there (you might need a car to reach some of them).

Cheers!

We loved San Gimignano which was very easy to reach from Florence by car. It was beautiful, the place we stayed was so charming and in the middle of the vineyards. It is II Rosolaccio and they have very good food and comfortable apartments.

We stayed at "La Rocca" near Orvieto on a RS tour. They offered a tour of their winery as well as a wine tasting lunch. A couple who was not part of our tour group took part in the tour and lunch as well so I know they offer this to their hotel guests. Google this agriturismo and their website will come up. They're closed for sometime in the winter so check their availabilty. It was a beautiful place and very peaceful and of course the town of Orvieto was lovely. Good luck and have a fabulous time.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions! We are busily doing our research and have made some inquiries to the specific agriturismos recommended so we'll see what comes of it.

I really appreciate all of your input.

We did a 3 generation family reunion in 2004 and stayed at a wonderful place central to our travels which included: Firenze, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena, Vinci, etc. We had kids that were preschoolers to 2nd graders. I can highly recommend:

[email protected] (Judy is from South Africa and her husband's family has owned this land for over 800 years). You can walk through the olives, grapes and stunning landscape.
The sweet little town of San Casciano Val di Pesa was darling and folks began to recognize us at the Gelateria. Great coop nearby. Lovely little library for online needs.
