Is this too long for Tuscany or should we plan on 7 days? Going May 2008 if that makes any difference.
Stephine,
No time is too long for Tuscany. I have spent three weeks at a time just in southern Tuscany. If you want ideas for the area e-mail me. [email protected]
It depends on what you want to see. You could easily spend 10 days just seeing Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and San Gimigniano. And that's without visiting the Chianti wine country, countless hill towns, etc. What are you after and what are your other choices?
countless books have been written ("Under the Tuscan Sun", "A Thousand Days in Tuscany", etc) about people who moved there and loved it. I don't think you can exhaust it in 10 days :-)
We stayed south of Siena and visited Volterra and San Gimignano on this trip. Volterra was fabulous, and for a tourist town, relatively untouristy. For a place to say, I'd strongly recommend a B&B farm south of Siena.

No that sounds great. As the above have said there is so much to see and do. Also you will have a really relaxed trip and feel like you have seen and done everything you want to. The weather should be good then too.
You could spend a month in Tuscany and still want to stay more. Go for the 10 days! Make sure you have a rental car so you can travel to wherever you wish.
Thank you everyone who responded to my question. After your suggestions & opinions & more research on my part my husband & I will have a wonderful trip visiting the many towns in Tuscany for either a 7 or 10 day stay.
