We will be in Tuscany in August, and want to stay in an agrotourism inn.
We are looking for a real working farm...we've seen a few very snazzy places that look more like spas than farms. Can anyone suggest a nice place that is a real farm (a pool wouldn't kill the authenticity...it should be very hot at that time!). Thanks!
Take a look at San Donato right outside of San Gigminano. We spent a lovely afternoon there last summer and hope to go back some day for an extended stay. (they do have a pool)

We stayed here last March and cannot recommend it enough. It is a family farm with 3 gereations working on it. Grapes, olives, vegetables, grains, meats. I believe they said approximately 90% of the meals come from products off the farms, exceptions being sugar, coffee, etc... If possible, try to stay a Saturday night because the bistecca florentine is incredible. If your timing is right you can even watch Amico carve it.
Everyone is extremely frinedly. It sits on a hill just outside Sand Giamiano so you can grab a bottle of wine, sit on the patio and watch the sun go down behind the city.
An amazing experience.
We stayed here, near SanGiminano. Wonderful, stayed here 4 days. A young couple that had been traveling Europe said that it was the best place they had stayed.

Check this link "Agriturismo in Tuscany" and the short video near the bottom of the page where Arianna describes their agriturismo - it is the real deal.
