hello. I'll be in Tuscany in April and i plan on visiting Santa Giulia winery and was wondering if anyone else had attended one of their tours. also i was curious if anyone has visited any wineries and purchased wine to ship back to the us. i am curious what the shipping would be and if it's possible to buy some of the wines from these wineries in the states.
thank you.
thomas
It looks like like a lovely winery, but they are listed as "temporarily closed". Have you contacted them? Search Google and you can find places in the US that sell their wine.
We stayed at Castello di Verrazzano and they would ship wine to the states, but it can be very expensive with tariffs and shipping costs. We decided to just buy it in the states and there's a wine store about 1 1/2 hours from here that sells. When we are in Atlanta, we drop by and stash up.
I hope you have a wonderful trip! We loved our time in Tuscany. When you go, make arrangements to have their lunch. These wines need to be paired with food to really appreciate them.
yes, the website is messed up. they are open and i did speak with them yesterday actually. they are open.
hmm, i actually go to ATL once a month ( i live in SC near the NC border). what's the name of the wine store if you don't mind me asking?
yeah i thought shipping back to the us would be crazy $$. i guess i'll just take one bottle back with me.
thanks
My son shipped a case of Chianti home to New England and the cost of wine was the same price as the shipping handled by Mail Boxes Etc.
It's Marietta Wine Company, but I don't think they offer it any more.
We visited Santa Giulia several years ago as part of day tour with Roberto of Tours by Roberto. Our little group enjoyed a tour of their winery and an absolutely amazing lunch featuring their Brunello and food raised or grown on their property. We purchased wine and their olive oil as well, but brought it home in our luggage rather than having it shipped. We have since ordered wine and olive oil, shipped by the case (Madonna Bella winery), and the cost is certainly not prohibitive. I would guess that Santa Giulia would do the same or similar. They are a lovely family and one feels like a very special guest when visiting!
