We did a wine tour in Tuscany last November to Castello di Verrazzano. It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it. It involved a tour of the winery and then a 4 course wine tasting lunch. Our tour guide, Fillipo was absolutely great. The countryside was awesome and we had a fabulous time. Well worth the money. I can say we thoroughly enjoyed the 5 or so hours we were there. CHeck out their website and see what you think. susan, raleigh, nc

I would be interested to hear about this, too. Is that 175 per person?

Avoid Cor Magis tours. They are inexpensive and still not worth the price. I've seen several tours in the 120 to 150 euro range for "joinable group tours". Private tours are much higher.

Yes that was 175 per person.
I wanted to see if I could find a small company like a local person.I am also asking our landlady at the farm we are staying in for advise too.

This site isango.com that I have used before to compare UK tours also has wine tours in Tuscany. The rates seem lower that that, but you always have to check the details of what is included.

Coming from Paris I would be tempted by the "wine and cheese tasting session" to see how it compares to here... :-)

We toured with a local gentleman by the name of Franco Fadda. I posted his info once before I think - but if you want his website let me know. (I will have to dig thru my stuff). Anyway he was great. He picked us up in Siena and we did a Chianti tour. Toured two wineries, an olive oil and a balsamic tasting and had a truly wonderful lunch in a hilltop town. He grew up in Siena and he knows his stuff. We were in a small group of about 6 people. And I think it was like 80 Euro per person (in 2005).
He does a Brunello tour also and when I get back to Italy - I am going on that one! :)

Franco's Brunello tour was excellent. My wife and I had a private tour (just the two of us) for a day back in October '07.

He picked us up in Siena and we visited two great vineyards and the Abbey of St. Antimo for the morning chant...

We also stopped at the Bardi Olive Oil facility (aka, Mr. Bardi's house) for a taste of some excellent olive oil.

It was a great day, and one of the best experiences we had on our trip.

His website describes his available tours.

Hello Pat, I subscribe to a blog written by Rebecca in Tuscany(http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/gLTb). Her tour company, Tuscan Wine Tours (http://tuscan-wine-tours.com/) might be what you are looking for. Just to let you know, I have no personal experience with her or her tours. Her blog, though, does give a good indication of what her tours are like and what kind of person she is. Check it out and see what you think. Regards.
