tuscan villa or city hotel

I am going to Italy end of July. Was planning on Rome, Florence, Santa Margherita Ligure and Tuscany. Considering the heat.....should I stay in Tuscany longer and do a couple of day trips to Florence instead of staying in the city?

Why not? Must have a car outside of the city though, otherwise it's going to be hard to get to that Tuscan villa.
