Tuscan Seaside/Beach

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a Tuscan Seaside town with a good beach? We will likely only stay a couple of days and are looking for somewhere that is easily accessible from either Rome or Florence.
Thank you!

Viareggio became the beach target of Florentines in the 1920's and still is somewhat today. Great beach, lots to do, good architecture, good train service. Intown there are free beaches (of limited size, Italian style) and beach clubs. Most of the hotels will have an arrangement with a particular beach club. South of town is the long and sandy free beach of Lecciona (spiaggia della lecciona) bordered by an extensive piney woods park.

Also look at Forte dei Marmi (very chic, upscale) and the Maremma which incudes many good beaches..

If you're looking for beach time in Rome, the the Lido in Ostia will be closest. Lots of info about it on TripAdvisor.

Thank you for all of your suggestions! They are really helpful! Will be talking with my parents this week/weekend and may be back with more questions!
