Turin in October...opera and soccer (hopefully)

Going to Turin in Oct, then to Bologna and Milan...I have tickets to a matinee of Tosca at IlTeatro Regio di Torino...anyone have any suggestion of how fancy one needs to dress? Also, hoping to go to Juve match on 10/20...does anyone know how difficult it is to get tickets? They usually don’t go on sale until a few days before the match...thanks,

I'm not sure this is of any help - I don't know how long you are in Turin for.
I was there last October, and at that stage Tickets for the Juventus home Serie A game were very difficult to get hold of (But they were playing Napoli, so likely far more demand than Bologna), That sais, on the Tuesday, Juve were at home in the Champions league to a Swiss side - and tickets were incredibly cheap (less than €10) , and the stadium half empty.

I'm an opera fan, but other than the Verona arena outdoors, I haven't had a chance to attend an opera in Italy yet. So this is hearsay...I have read that very fancy dress is only for opening nights, the rest of the time Italians go to the opera in most anything from business casual upwards, but not usually formal dress. Since we had cheap seats in Verona, we didn't dress up much, just sundresses and khakis. But the Milanese in the main floor seats were definitely dressed several notches above us.

Dress code: nothing fancy (no Tuxedo necessary). For the most part Italians will be dressed nicely, but not formally (some might go in a business suit, but not all). A pair of nice slacks or even regular cotton pants (not blue jeans with holes) and a long sleeve dress shirt, should do. If you plan to take a jacket, you might add a tie, to be among the fancier people. However if you don’t have a jacket, then no tie. If without jacket, be aware that Turin might get cool in the evenings in October, so have at least a light sweater.

I lived in Turin and do know Teatro Reggio very well. Do you have your tickets already? You might be lucky enough to get a cheaper ticket if you go on that very day around 5.40 pm and get at a cheaper price one of the tickets that were not sold.
Usually in Turin, the evening you dress quite smartly, the afternoon a little more casual business wear.

I’ve been to a few operas in Italy- wonderful experience! Usually the people in the most expensive sections will be in formal attire and others will be dressed nicely. I have worn either a black dress or black pants, fancy top, sweater. For men, black pants and a nice dress shirt or sweater should suffice.
