Looking for feedback and ideas on our travel to Turin and Genoa. We have been to Italy many times but first to the Piedmont Region. We will be taking an overnight train from Brussels to Milan and then training to Turin for our base for 4 or 5 nights. Planning on exploring Alba and nearby castles etc. we then want to head to Genoa for 5 nights to explore and train to a few spots along the coastal area. We have been to Cinque (Vernazza) etc, Portofino, Portovenere before but don’t mind returning to a few as there is always more to see and do. Arriving late Sept and into Oct this year. Thank you and I always get great response from this forum when we travel!

Enrica also arranged a tour of some large basil-growing greenhouses in Pra the hills above Genoa --- you'd need to take a taxi up there.
I would go to Genoa again (for the fourth time) just to eat. My favorite place to eat on our 2018 trip was Sa Pesta, street food but also savory pies and other local food. There is indoor seating. Serves farinata, which you can watch being made. I think we ordered two different assortments, plus some pesto pasta. Some of the Italian Tripadvisor reviews of it are hilarious, such as complaints that it costs too much for street food or the service is too fast or there's no highchair for babies. But it was one of the most memorable lunches we've had in Italy. I remember also liking Osteria La Laterna, Ristorante Prie Rosse, and Da Leccarsi i Baffi.
If you like churches, as I do, there is the stripey Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, decorated with colored marble and guarded by stone lions. San Matteo is a pretty little striped church. Also 11th century San Donato.
We stayed in Camogli, but I imagine it would make a nice day trip from Genoa --- it would be far, far less crowded than the Cinque Terre.
