Tucci cancelled!

CNN has cancelled the third season of Stanley Tucci's Searching for Italy. Boo. He evidently hopes to get the show picked up elsewhere.

It didnt seem to fit with CNN's programming anyway. Yeah seems link travel channel or food network or even Discovery might be a better fit.

Didn't he visit every region in Italy already?

Just an FYI José Andrés, famous Spanish-American chef, has his travel own show coming out next week, apparently it's pretty similar to Tucci's show and follows his journey with his American born daughters to six parts of Spain.

That’s a shame. And in Florence 2 months ago, we didn’t wind up finding his Wine Window. We didn’t seek out his Offal restaurant in Rome, either, even though we were staying in the neighborhood. The episodes so far have all been entertaining and informative.

So now besides Searching for Italy, Stanley Tucci is searching for a broadcaster.

Oh No!!!! Say it ain't so!

The show has been a fascinating and informative look at Italian cuisine and I've enjoyed every episode. Ol' "Morty" is a very entertaining host. I hope another network will pick up the show and I hope the existing shows will be made available online.

CNN was hoping to find a replacement for Anthony Bourdain.

The perfect audience for Searching for Italy would be PBS. Or one of the streaming services.

Low ratings. I watched Anthony Bourdain regularly even the reruns and he left a hole on Sunday night. I saw all the ads for the Tucci show and never wanted to watch it

We enjoyed both shows, but their approaches and demeanor were quite different. Bourdain was on multiple networks as his shows evolved; hopefully Tucci will be able to find another network as well. We really enjoyed his show and were looking forward to season 3. I have friends that are planning their own trips to Italy and always suggest that they watch Tucci's show for inspiration and ideas.
