I'm leaving tomorrow for Italy. Woohoo! It's really happening! So, I just printed out my boarding passes and LO and behold up next to my confirmation number is "/TSA PRECHK" on all legs of my journey...does that mean that I was randomly selected for TSA Precheck??? That'd BE so great if it does! I didn't know that that could happen. I know there's a cost and so this is most likely a marketing ploy to get you hooked. I'm all for that! π
I think it's legitimate . This happened to me four or so years ago , without my requesting it . My boarding passes continue to be indicated that way .
If you have a certain credit card with an airline like I do you get TSA precheck or if flying in 1st class.
Some airlines participate. Oh and I think the airlines do that for international flights.
She say all legs of your journey how many flights do you have to take?
No, there's no cost if you don't enroll. Some people, like you, get selected for TSA Precheck w/o having applied for the program.

Thanks, everyone! I fly from Denver to Minneapolis and then to Paris and finally to Rome.
Yep, we've gotten lucky with pre-checks now and again. Been equally unlucky and pulled for random goings-over!
Enjoy the trip!!! ππ·βοΈπ
But...the Pre-check is only good for going thru security in Denver. You won't pass thru security in MSP. Once you get to Europe the TSA doesn't mean anything to the security checkpoints there. I've not transited thru CDG so I don't know if you have to go thru security after you go thru Immigration into the Schengen zone or not.
Not trying to burst your happy bubble because getting it to go thru Denver security is great!
Have a great time in Italy!
Ahhh, thanks, Pam.
Pam is correct on the international flights. It's luck of the draw on the random pre-check, so just enjoy a slightly less stressful domestic departure. We've often gotten pre-check flying out of Peoria, where security usually only takes about five minutes, anyway, and once in a while flying from other airports. I recall once my wife and I both got pre-check and breezed through, then waited 15 minutes while our teenager had to go through the normal drill.
EDIT: And have a wonderful time in Italy!
I have gotten pre-check on every departure for the last several years. MSP is one US airport that apparently doesn't have it.
Thank you, everyone! All packed in a carry on! Still can't believe I did that! I'm notorious for over packing! I followed all of Rick Steves' Advice as well as everyone on this forum. You guys rock!
Enjoy it while you can. TSA has stated it is slowly stopping complimentary Pre-Check to those who have not officially signed up. Your credit card company or frequent flier account doesn't guarantee you get it. It is completely up to TSA.
I signed up and it's a nice treat to walk past the longer lines and leave my shoes and belt on.
While I don't believe that any credit card gets you Precheck, there are some that will reimburse you the fee.
Every time I leave out of our local airport (BMI), I get PreCheck. It doesn't save a lot of time or effort, but it's nice not to have to juggle carryon stuff and the 3-1-1 bag and shoes.
Only one more sleep Mrs. Eve!! Woohooo!!!
I have gotten the TSA PRECHECK on my boarding pass before, but my hubby did not so it was not useful for me, not like I am going to separate from him just to have to ultimately wait for him...plus the fun part is being together for the entire journey.
