Trying to Purchase Colosseum/Roman Forum Tickets at Official Site

Hi,
I am trying to purchase the lowest-priced tickets on the official web site, but no available dates are shown after April 19. Does this mean that nothing is available in May or later months or that they will make these dates available on the web site at some future date?

Thank you for your help.

I have booked tickets with LivTours as they have rave reviews. It is a private tour and quite pricey, but only doin it once in our lifetime :) We are going 26 May.

They only release tickets as early as 30 days in advance. So just wait...

April 25th is Liberation Day in Italy and a national holiday. I believe the Italian State museums had a free day last year but I've no idea not sure if they'll do it again this year. There could be parades and stuff that might interfere with the usual visiting hours. Anyway, if indeed it IS free on the 25th this year, you can't make reservations and I sure wouldn't go near the thing.

Dario, Roberto or any of our other experts on All Things Italia, do you have any insights here?

I found the website that will (apparently) list all the places that will be free on April 25. So far, Rome's region (Lazio) isn't listed, but the Veneto (Venice) and Emilia-Romagna (Bologna/Modena/Parma/Ravenna/etc.) are.

Sights with free entry on April 25, 2023 (list still incomplete)

Here's last year's webpage where you can find the full 2022 list for Rome (choose Lazio from the pull-down box); we can't be sure this year's list will be the same.

Sights in and near Rome that were free on April 25, 2022

These are the key entries on last year's list; the Colosseum was included:

  • Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea
  • Gallerie Nazionali de Arte Antica – Galleria Corsini and Palazzo Barberini
  • Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica: Villa di Capo di Bove, Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella e Chiesa di San Nicola, Antiquarium di Lucrezia Romana, Tombe della Via Latina e Basilica di Santo Sestefano, Villa dei Quintili e Santa Maria Nova
  • Terme di Caracalla
  • Arco di Malborghetto
  • Museo Nazionale degli Strumenti Musicali
  • Palazzo Venezia
  • Museo Centrale del Risorgimento – Vittoriano
