We are planning on being in Molise, Roccamandolfi and Campobasso/Isernia area and want to get from there to Palermo the fastest way by plane. What are our choices for travel? We will have a rental car with us that will need to be returned to the train station in Isernia, and could take a train from Isernia to Naples and then a flight from Naples to Palermo, but I'm hoping to get some tips and ideas from all of you about how much time to allow for things and if anyone has any ideas on how to do it the least painful way. Maybe the train from Campobasso is better than a train from Isernia? Maybe we drive to Foggia? Maybe we go to Rome to fly out? Is there an airline that is better than another for this?
Grazie
If you could return the car at the airport in Naples, I would drive to the airport. Last year I flew Naples to Catania on Alitalia and the flight was comfortable but uneventful. High restrictions for carry on luggage so opt for the fare that allows checked baggage.
You can fly non stop from Bari to Palermo on Volotea or from Bari to Rome to Palermo on Alitalia.
Thank you Philip and Suki. I think the drive to Bari is twice as long as the drive to Naples... though I don't like driving in Naples at all!, and we will fly into Palermo. Also, thanks for the tip on the luggage.. we all only have carryon but will consider checking the bags if we can. At least in Naples we can return the rental car to the airport. Grazie mille.
Glad I could help. You won’t have to actually drive into Naples to get to the airport. Hope that makes things easier.
