Trying to extend a hotel booking

Good morning Community.

I booked a hotel in Rome (directly through hotel) for 5 nights for next April. Now I need to change the booking to 7 nights. On Friday I used the 'contact us' form and made my request quoting the confirmation number. I've not had a return email yet.

Their website shows rooms available. Should I just book two more nights on a new reservation or should I try again on the contact us form? There's no email address that I can find on their website, just the contact us form.

This stay has us leaving on Good Friday so I don't want to lose out by dithering.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

I would book the additional two nights on the hotel, website, making sure it is the same type of room. Then contact them (phone is best) and have the reservations linked so you do not have to change rooms.

They are at the height of tourist season so probably very busy. I would make a separate res for the two nights then when they (eventually) respond to your email, tell them what you did and that you want the same room for ll 7 nights.

Thank you Lola and Laurel. I made the additional booking this afternoon.

Now I have something else to worry about though. Our reservation for the first five nights is firm, but we did not prepay. Even though I chose the refundable rate, they've charged my card for the additional two nights. I wasn't expecting that. Now I will worry that if we merge the reservations we will end up paying for those two nights twice and have to deal with that. Grr! Maybe I'll leave well enough alone in terms of the two bookings and discuss with them upon check in. Changing rooms wouldn't be the worst thing to deal with.
