I am trying to book train tickets but there seems to be no trains June 16-19, 2025. Is there a planned strike or is it too early to see the train schedule? Italy has trains listed but not Trenitalia
For most national train companies in Europe, the train tix will not be available for sale until midnight of Saturday, June 14. That is because the revised train timetables will officially be released then, and in some countries the government-run train companies ( such as Italy) are legally prevented from selling them before then.
Check www.Italotreno.com for its high-speed trains. Italotreno is a private train company— so it’s not governed by the same rules as state-owned Trenitalia. Italo only offers tickets for its high-speed train routes and they are NOW on sale online for all trains through December 13, 2025.
For any local trains in Italy ( not the high-speed trains) there is no point in buying them in advance— no cost savings and they cannot sell out.
Cheers!
The Trenitalia schedule is currently only complete up to March 15. It is too early for mid June.
Honestly, except for border crossing trains one doesn’t need to buy train tickets so early. Heck, in 25 years of traveling to Italy we’ve only purchased train tickets in advance once and that was for a Milan to Düsseldorf overnight train which we bought only a week beforehand and it was also reduced price. No need to buy so far ahead.
