Trustworthy Reliable Transportation from Airport to Hotel

Hi,

My husband and I are meeting from different locations and at different times. I've never traveled alone to Europe before. What is the most trustworthy/reliable as well as cost-effective measure to get to my hotel in Rome from the main airport?

Thanks everyone!

Either the white taxi from the stand at the airport Or precook a car and driver to meet you inside the terminal. The taxis cost €48 to anywhere within the walls of the city and a driver/car costs the same or a few Euro more. I have used Rome Taxi, not really a taxi but a driver and car. They meet you in the terminal with a sign with your name on it. They check flight arrivals so will be there even if your flight is late. I have used Welcome Pickups in Athens and been very happy with them- I see they now operate in Rome, for €48. Finally you could see if your hotel will arrange a pick-up.

Rome Cabs is also an excellent choice for a private transfer. €50 or €55 last I knew, book online.

It is so uncouth to use a raw car and driver. :-)

I think precooking a car and driver is more common in the old Austro-Hungarian northern part of the country. In the free-spirited South, I think a raw car and driver is perfectly fine.

Pre book a car and driver. The driver meets you after you exit, with a sign with your name and drops you off at your hotel. It’s pre-paid so no risk of taxi scams (drivers trying to charge more than the fixed rate by making up fees or similar). I’ve used Rome cabs and Rome shuttle limo for this. Also once my hotel arranged it for me, with a driver that they used. You could ask your hotel.

The taxi line is fine (reliable and safe), but the ease and pre-payment make the private car option better to me, it costs the same or only a couple euros more.

If you are thinking 50 euro doesn't fit the category of cost effective, there are other ways into the city, but require a bit more travel savvy. In your case, I would bite the bullet and pay the 50 euro since you expressed concern, and I even agree with pre-booking a driver.

If that simply is not the option for you, then please let us know where you are staying and what time of day you arrive, and someone can lay out the options.
