Trusted Tour Agent in Vatican City

Hi,

We would like to purchase skip-the-line tickets for Saint Peter's Basilica entry. I tried to look for agencies where I can buy tickets online but all of them have bad reviews in Tripadvisor. For instance, there were some people who purchased online and got a online voucher but when they presented it to Saint Peter's Basilica entry, the voucher was not accepted and deemed to be invalid.

Can you please recommend that is trusted and legit?

FYI, we already purchased a night tour for Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel so we only need to have access on Saint Peter's Basilica. I would really like to avoid the long line in the afternoon. Any tip is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

The lines at St Peters are for security not for entry.

Saint Peter's basilica is free, there are no voucher/tickets to be accepted. Nobody skips the security lines, including those who were scammed by agencies selling tickets for something that's free,

You really need a better guide if yours does not say what's free and what's not.

Skip the security line tickets for the Basilica are in the same category and chrome plated muffler bearings.

There does appear to be an option to enter through a dedicated entrance with the pre-purchase of a self-guided tour via an audio app to one's own device or one provided, earbuds (required) € 1,00 extra. Technically, it's a tour and not entry tickets as entry to the basilica is always free. Jay from Chicago (a frequent poster on this forum and all-around good fella) bought this option in 2017 and you can see his write-up here:

I believe this option is provided by Vox Mundi and is also sold through some 3rd party booking websites, such as Rome Toolkit Get Your Guide, Viator, Museums Rome, etc. Booking fees may vary depending on the seller you use.

This "tour" appears to be timed-entry, and various reviews reflect that some tourists had issues with making the app work (such as Jay had), confusion over meeting place and dissatisfaction with the content of the material (heavier on religion than history). While the security queue for the basilica can be long, it moves reasonably quickly so personally this isn't something I'd drop the euros on but up to you.

Just walk to St. Peter’s, stand in a line for airport type security, walk into St. Peyet’s. Easy.

Hi,

Thank you everyone for all the information you've shared. I have also sent an email to the Vatican website and they replied that the queue is for the security check. So if I purchased a self-guided tour, I can skip the security queue?

Bebu, NO one skips security checks at museums and attractions which require them. In most (but not all) cases, there are separate security queues for general ticketing, passes and/or tours. Even separate queues for, say, passes, may be long or experience delays in entry if the attraction is already full to capacity: the Colosseum webpage, for instance, cautions against such occurrences.

"Please note that for safety reasons the Coliseum can accommodate up to 3.000 people at once.
This could lead to delays in access to the site, even for pre-booked visitors."

Text for the self-guided app tour states that it uses a shorter "reserved" or "dedicated" entry/place process to circumvent the longer "free" queue. Read how it worked for Jay and for other purchasers of the product who've reviewed their experiences.
