I am planning a side trip from Rome to Sicily in December, around the holidays. The choice of airlines is Air One or Alitalia. I know Alitalia has been having problems lately and wonder whether I should avoid that airline (although the flight time is much better for us than Air One's).

Alitalia isn't in the news here anymore. They worked out their crisis and managed to get all the unions on board and are technically OK. In theory this should be a pretty calm time to go, as everyone has accepted the new contracts so there shouldn't be any strikes for the time being. I'm flying with them next week......
