We're having trouble booking individual tickets for the end of June on the "official" St. Mark's site. Not interested in a tour or a combo ticket - just a timed ticket for the basilica. I tried to book it a month ago but was told to wait until June 1.
Any advice?

I would say the advice you got to wait until June 1 was a bum steer, as someone else
inquired about this topic last week, and at that point there were tickets available on
the official site for the last week of June.
Are you looking at:
Official ticket site
because it shows tickets available for tomorrow (June 2nd) and June 26th. Which tells
you two things: 1) they may add tickets at the last minute, so don't lose hope 2) whomever
said to wait until June 1st was misinformed (I could say it more colorfully, but I suspect this
is a family forum)
Finally, if you strike out online, you can always stand in line for tickets on the day of.

The original poster is correct. The official website said that they were rolling out a new system for tickets starting in July that would be available June 1, but it's not there.
I'd love to know whether it's possible to book tickets, or if St. Mark's is effectively no longer allowing advance booking?

I have no current info about the San Marco ticket online-situation, but I can tell you that--though the entry line for folks without tickets may look scarily long--the line moves quite fast.
