Tropea vs Maratea, Italy

We are traveling in southern Italy and Sicily in mid to late September. We'll be leaving Vieste and driving to the tyrrhenian coast for a three nights before taking a ferry to Sicily. Has anyone been to Maratea and Tropea? We were thinking about stopping in Maratea for two nights then onto Tropea for a night after a long day in the Cosenza area? What are your thoughts about each town and would you do both or skip one? Or would you do one night in Maratea and two in Tropea?

Truhanclan, It looks like you are a fan of the sea!
I don't want to insinuate the doubt in you, but unless it's your second time in the south of Italy, do you really want to go to Puglia without visiting Lecce and Castellana caves? Do you really want to go through the Basilicata region without visiting Matera?
Food for thoughts...

there are 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Anyway, Maratea and Tropea are similar, beautiful beaches and a lot of sun. One day each is enough!
Enjoy

Thanks Anja.
I didn't include the first part of our trip because I didn't find it pertinent to my question. We actually start our trip in Lecce, then drive to Martina Franca for 3 nights to explore that area, including Matera. From there we drive through Bari to Vieste.

We stayed in Maratea for two nights several years ago. It was in April, so not alot of beach time. But the coast around Maratea is beautiful. It is small, but nice hikes and walks that can fill 1-2 days. I have not been to Tropea, but suspect it’s larger.
