Travelling to Venice after spending 2 days in Florence. Planning to board a late evening train to Venice on a Thursdayalong with my wife and 2 teenage children. Would like to spend the following FRI & SAT in Venice and flying out 6.30 am Sunday from Marco Polo. Any suggestions where to stay considering an early am flight. 2 nights on the island and the last night near the airport? How early/late are the water taxi services/ trains to the airport available?Please help.

Try looking into Hotel Flora. I went with my two teenage boys in 2006. They managed to find a two room situation at the end of a short hallway. No other rooms in that hallway! It was like our own suite.
One room with two beds had a private en suite bathroom. The room with the larger queen bed had to use the "shared" bathroom across the hall. BUT - there are no other rooms on this hallway!

It's always more enjoyable to stay in Venice if possible but for a 0630 flight, you'll probably need to get there a couple hours early (I'm assuming it's an international flight) so you might want to stay at the Marriot/Courtyard which is right outside the airport. They offer free shuttle service right to the airport.
