What is the best stop to get off the train near the faniculator, Orvieto or Orvieto Centro ?
Orvieto. I'm not aware of a second station. Maybe "Orvieto Centro" is something different?
I would guess Centro since that is or should be the center of town. However, go to Google maps and pull up Orvieto. Should show you the train stations and other details.
ORVIETO is the station you want if you plan to take funicular up to town
I didn’t think there was more than 1 station but the Trenitalia app does show those 2
I’m thinking they are the same thing
We have taken train both TO and FROM Orvieto and I don’t recall 2 stations either way
Are you checking train schedules on trenitalia.com?
If you want to take the funicular up to Orvieto, you just need to choose ‘Orvieto’ as your destination.
Once you arrive at the train station, you can follow the crowd, across the street, to get to the funicular. Once you arrive to Piazza
Cahen, you can take a bus to Piazza Duomo (the funicular ticket includes the shuttle bus to the city center)
If you chose ‘Orvieto Centro’ as your destination, it looks like your ticket will include a bus ride up to the city center (and thus omitting the funicular)
I personally wanted to go on the funicular, so my train ticket was to Orvieto.
Enjoy your time in beautiful Orvieto!

Here’s a helpful website: www.orvietoviva.com
If you have time, consider taking the one hour underground tour. I thought it was very interesting. You may check tour times at the tourist information office located on Piazza Duomo.
Make sure you eat a delicious gelato at the recommended gelateria; Il Gelato di Pasqualetti.
Ah ha!
Thanks Priscilla for clearing that up
Very helpful
