Trip to Milan & Naples for Inter–Roma and Napoli–Milan – tips requested

Hi everyone,
I know its quite late, but still...

I visit Milan and San Siro/Meazza stadium for the third time at the beginning of April.

Last year, twice, I traveled from Warsaw to Milan Bergamo Airport (they have a comfy 6 a.m. flight, so by 9 a.m. I’m already in Milan city center).
This time I plan to start on Sunday, April 5, visit the Inter–Roma game, sleep, and around 14:00 take a flight to Naples to see the Napoli–Milan game the next day, on April 6.

The next day, April 7, I plan to check the Naples city, eat a lot of decent food, and leave on a 17:30 flight to Warsaw.

I also enjoy Bergamo, so I want to spend half of the first day there, visit one favorite restaurant, and then go to Milan. I can’t miss Bergamo — I always spend some time there before my flight from Milan Bergamo Airport.

So, my questions are:

  1. I understand restaurants in Italy don’t open in the morning, but rather around 14:00 or so? Any ideas what to do in Bergamo, since I’ve already been to the old city twice and it might not cover 5–6 hours of my free time? Or maybe skip Bergamo and travel directly to Milan?

  2. Any tips for Naples? What to eat, what to visit, and where to stay? I will book some Airbnb or a hotel. I heard it might be quite dangerous in Naples, but I’m a decent-looking solo male XD.

I'm a little confused by your question. You say that you can't miss Bergamo because you always spend some time there, but then later in your questions, you ask if you should skip Bergamo and travel directly to Milan? I think that's up to you. If you've been there before, you obviously know Bergamo and what there is to see. You have to decide if it's worth it to spend a bit of time there or just skip it and go directly to Milan. Both are doable.

With regards to Naples, I can't help you there. I've been to Italy twice, but not Naples. However, you can start off by reading this article by Rick Steves that gives some tips, places to visit, places to eat, and so on for a start. Hopefully someone else will come along and respond to your question about Naples. https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/naples

Either way, it sounds like a wonderful trip! Enjoy!

Everyone knows about the pizza in Naples. I trust others will point you to a place near Napoli Centrale where you can get reliable pizza.

Another local specialty is sfogliatelle, which are sweet pastries filled with custard or a sort cheese (maybe whipped ricotta?). I prefer the cheese-filled version, but there's nothing wrong with the custard-filled pastries. There are plenty of good sources for sfogliatelle in Naples, but one of the best is conveniently close to Napoli Centrale: Sfogliatelle Attanasio at Vico Ferrovia 1. It is a very popular place. There will be a line. Look immediately for the little machine that dispenses numbered tickets so you don't have to wait unnecessarily long.
