Trip to Lake Como and Verona

Hi all

Just need a little advice. We're flying round trip from NY into MXP and looking to stay in Lake Como for 4 nights and then Verona for 4 nights. Wondering what would be better logistically. Doing Lake Como first or Verona? Not sure how we're getting around yet, probably train. Flight home on 9th day is at 12:10, so want to make sure we have plenty of time to get to the airport.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Haven't decided where we are staying on Lake Como as of yet. Possibly Como city.

Here’s what I’m seeing on Trenitalia:

If you stay at Varenna, Lake Como, your train choices are leaving at 6:20am with one train connection to arrive at Malpensa around 9:00am. All other trains would require three trains to get there which is too much risk.

From Verona Porta Nueva, a train leaves at 5:43am to arrive with one connection at Malpensa around 9am. There’s also a 6:52am that arrives around 9:30am.

Personally, I stay in the city adjacent to the airport the night before a flight or sometimes at an airport hotel - just too much risk if I had to purchase a new international airline ticket home.

Ok, thanks very much. Our flight back to NY is at 12:10 and we'd have to get there 3 hours before so will have to think about this.

I’d stay in Milan night before departure

Verona 4 nights
Lake Como 3 nights - stay in Varenna
Milan 1 night

All easily done by train

You are then just 1 hour train to MXP

I agree with Christine. Varenna and Bellagio is the prettiest spot-on Lake Como so why stay elsewhere.
