Trip report Sept. 10-25 Stresa, Florence & Rome Part #6

DAY 15–

–9:00 am SIT shuttle bus to FCO for my flight home (10 minute walk from the Domus. 15 minutes late, but a great bargain at 7 Euro)
–12:25 pm flight FCO-ATL-IND (FCO the only place that had rude employees in the whole trip)
–9:45 pm landed at IND (an hour or so late)
AFTER THOUGHTS–

Words can’t express the gratitude and blessings I felt about my trip! I felt so blessed and accomplished at being able to travel solo and live through the experience (and the amount of walking and climbing stairs I did) and immensely enjoyed every single moment of the entire trip. I traveled by high speed trains, taxis, buses, metro and by foot and lived to tell about it.

The churches were spiritual and visually eye poppingly beautiful. The art and architecture–words escape me.The food and wine were just phenomenal. I will taste the food and wine forever in my dreams. I will always crave wine, bruschetta and gelato for lunch now. The Italian people were unfailingly nice and helpful to me. All of the interactions with people that I had will always be remembered.

I will never forget Italy!

And thanks to all of you for the help pre-trip you offered and answering my many questions :)

Thank you for sharing your adventure! You certainly made the most of your time…impressive and daring to travel solo makes it even more special. Just think of what people miss when they fear to travel alone.
I had no worry over dining alone, and each night in Florence I was seated next to a party that I conversed with the entire meal. Brief encounters with strangers added to the experience. I met a woman who had lost her mother six weeks prior and just had to get away. She was in Florence for two weeks going to a school to learn Italian. We talked as if we had been friends for years.
I am off to Rome this morning. I had not planned on purchasing a Pantheon ticket as many say use the cash line because it’s faster. I’d be disappointed if I didn’t see the inside, so I will be booking my ticket ASAP, if it’s not too late. I will also be able to benefit from your dining experiences as I didn’t have time at home to figure that out.
I loved that even though things didn’t always go as planned, you continued with positivity making wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

I’m amazed at the amount of things you did packed into your short trip!
Well done!
I’m so happy you loved Italy…perhaps your enthusiasm might rub off and convince your husband to go with you next time!
Great trip report, thanks.

I read your whole trip report and really enjoyed it. My first solo international trip was also to Italy( Siena, Florence and Rome) a couple of years ago. While I had previously taken several solo trips within the United States, going on a solo international trip felt very empowering. I enjoyed it so much that I went to the Netherlands solo this past spring. Anyway, thanks for the great report!
