What is the best location { city } to fly into first when traveling from Paris to Italy given the city listed below we would like to visit.
we are flying out of rome? we have 6 days in italy.
We don't know which city to start in?
Paris to...?
Venice ? we also need hotel suggestions 3 or 4 star
Florence need hotel looking for suggestions on a hotel 3-or 4 star/
Cinque Terra need hotel Suggestion .
Rome need hotel suggestion .
We fly from Rome bk to the United states.
Also we would like recommendations for a day tour guide person in each city to help with our sightseeing.

We have nothing booked yet.

It would help to have some further information and clarification, such as when this trip is taking place. Could you explain the term "resonance" in your title as it doesn't seem to fit the topic.

For answers to all your questions, I'd suggest picking up a copy of the Italy guidebook, as it has lots of hotel information on the places you mentioned. There's also information in the book on reputable local guides.

Also, regarding the Cinque Terre (note spelling), which of the five towns are you planning to stay in?

Sharon.. could you be a little clearer and specific.

How many days in each place. What month are you going,

What is your budget per night in euros.. do not just say "reasonable" some people think 200 euros is reasonable ( I don't ) some consider 50 euros reasonable ( too cheap to me.. would not be nice) .. some are willing to spend 500 euros a night or more.. so .. really.. for specific suggestions , how many people are you , and what budget range please.

As for day guides.. what exactly do you want to see.. and as /I said.. how long in each city.

Have you booked your flight from Paris to Venice or Pisa yet.

Just go to Booking.com to find accommodations.

I filter their properties by price (lowest) and start looking for a hotel with much higher customer ratings than the other hotels in the same price range. I've never been dissatisfied.

I do similar to David, but use Tripadvisor, as it compares a number of sites. http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/
Filter by price range (use the slide bar to set)
Filter by hotel rating (3 or 4 star etc)
Filter by guest rating (for me 4+)
Display by map and see what is available in your desired location (near the station, or central to sights)

But, yes please Sharon, give us your dates and the number of nights in each location.

I usually start with the Rick Steves guide book then look the recommendations up on Trip Advisor and locate them on the map. Then I go to the hotel website and see what the current prices are, what their cancellation policies are and if there is availability. I keep notes on a yellow legal pad because once I look at three or four I start to mix them up.

You haven't really given us anything to work with.

Budget, when, previous visit experience, how many, ages, preferences, special issues all enter into it and without we can just throw darts.

Good heavens, how long is a piece of string? :O)

As stated above, there's too much missing to even begin to throw darts. Season, total amount of time, budget (what does "medium" mean to you?), what your interests are… it all adds to the equation. And there is a ton of information on the Italy forum if you're willing to take some time to browse through similar questions.

I really do suspect sometimes that posts such as this one are not genuine. I think the sight of people scrambling to help and offer advice amuses and the fact that Sharon has not returned to flesh out her plans ( or non- plans) as requested, confirms my suspicions.

OK, here's an earlier post from our friend with a bit more info:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/question-planning-a-trip-intaly

"we are looking for info .
We will be flying from paris to rome .
We want to spend a night in venice and a couple nights in florence and then cpl in rome.
it appears there a no direct flight from italy back to sfo
our total trip is looking like this
sfo to london 2 days direct flight
2 days in paris
then italy for the rest
need suggestions"

And this on her profile:
"we can ( I believe she meant 'can't) stay longer than 9 days we have teenagers so we cant be on the road with them too long/
we have a lot of friends who have done . london , france and italy/
we can do two nights in london ton in france and then train over to Italy
when we fly from france should what city would we visit first"

It looks like 9 (now 10?) days total for London, Paris, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre and Rome. Reference the link and responses to that previous thread. It appears this itinerary is still on the table (minus London/insert Cinque Terre?) despite kindly advice. Sharon, it would be helpful to know exactly what what we're working with?

OK, I'll bite, but only from the standpoint that if you're starting in Paris and finishing in Italy, it would be a shame to not do the 'in-between'. As in, 2 nights in Paris, train (4 hrs) to Lucerne, Switzerland (2 nights), train (5 hrs) to Florence (2 nights), train (1.5 hrs) to Rome (4 nights), fly out of Rome. That's 10 nights, you don't have to fly intra-Europe, the train stations can easily be within walking distance of great hotels. Yes, you'd miss Venice & the Cinque Terre, but you'd be taking the train through the Alps, which is breathtaking. We did this trip in March, but for 17 days, ending up in Salerno, flying out of Naples.

The OP's other post has been deleted.

I'm going to wait until she responds, clarifies, and gives a lot more info. She began by saying First in the instructions of asking questions on the blog recommended. That we to keep our questions brief.

Nowhere do I see it say to be brief or anything similar. This isn't a blog, it's a forum. Maybe she's confused with another website?

I'll give you a couple of recommendations based on what I think your thinking is at this point.

With only 6 days in Italy I'd fly from Paris to either Pisa (for Cinque Terra) or Venice. After 2-3 days on one of these cities, I'd take the train to Rome for 3-4 days.

This depends on what time of year you are planning this trip and your interests, of which you've told us nothing. EDIT: just noticed June in your title. If you are interested in art I'd pick Florence over CT or Venice. If this is the middle the winter I wouldn't pick CT for example.

As far as hotel recommendations, use a map to locate the most central locations in all of these places and read reviews.

Sorry, I can't recommend city guides, I've never used them.
