Has anyone been? Any information will be appreciated. We are staying two weeks in the Prati area and this market is outside our apartment. Thanks,
The Mercato Trionfale, located off Via Andrea Doria, is one of the largest markets in the city. It has fruits, vegetables, butchers, fresh pasa, dry cleaners, flower shops, fish, bakeries, and even a cafe. As we live near the Vatican, we shop here often. In fact, I'm headed over there this AM.
You can walk through and check out all the vendors - Most are VERY tolerant of my poor Italian - or lack of. Don't pick through the vegetables unless they toss you a bag...it's considered improper, even insulting to some vendors (to say that all their product is not "equally" good!). It used to be literally "in the street" but now the market has moved into a new, modern building - which even has a parking garage!!
