Hello,
Has anyone ever taken a ferry from Trieste to Rovinj, Croatia? I'm looking at doing it for a day trip in July and just wanted to see how easy (or hard!) it is.
Thanks in advance!
This may not be totally pertinent; however, use information as you can . . . we scheduled to take the ferry from Split to Korcula . . . as we were leisurely drinking out GTs in a bar waiting to go down to the dock to board, we got a text that the catamaran ferry had been canceled because of high winds . . . !!!!! We immediately went back to our hotel for help . . they said there was no room in the hotel to stay another night . . . to go to the ferry terminal for help !!! Achh!! (We had a hotel room on Korcula for several nights, then plans to ferry on to Dubrovnik.) So the ferry people said they could get us on a car ferry that put us on the other end of the island later that night . . . (Great!! how to get to the other end where our hotel is??!!)
I started googling for taxis . . . I dialed the first number, and a man answered "hello" . . . and we hired a great tour guide/taxi driver who picked us up from the car ferry and drove us to our hotel. I remember it being a late evening trip from end of the island to the other. Our driver's farewell note as he waved us off, " Tell all your friends to come to Croatia!" And that's what we do.
So, plan ahead what you can, remain flexible and appreciate everyone's help, knowing there will be surprises along the way.
In direct answer to your question . . . We did not ferry to Rovinj; we used GoOpti to get from Trieste down to Rovinj. We first went to Piran, then Rovinj . . . GoOpti is a group van option, than is great!
We LOVED Croatia . . . especially the people and the food.
Thank you, all for the information!
