My parents and I will be taking the train from Florence to Trieste and then picking up our car at the airport and drive into Slovenia and Croatia. Is Trieste worth visiting for a few hours or should just drive to Bled? Thanks!

Trieste is a elegant and beautiful city and yes, it's worth a visit.
Miramare castle(http://www.castello-miramare.it/ita/home/home.php) Cathedral of San Giusto and the Grotta Gigante (http://www.grottagigante.it/) are amazing. The grotta gigante's complex is the most immense in the world, with one cavity large enough to fit St. Peter's Basilica .
