There's no mention of Treviso (I think that's what it's called - the airport Ryan Air uses) in RS book. Admittedly I have a 2006 edition. Details on how to get from there to Venice and back again, and how long it takes? p.s. the Ryanair flight from Paris was 10 euros, and no tax!
ATVO runs a shuttle from the TReviso airport to Venice. Looks like it takes about 70 minutes and cost 6 euros for a oneway and 10 euros for a roundtrip. Here's a link.

Ryanair likes to nickel and dime passengers so be ready for extra charges for bags etc. They have recently apparently gotten tough on cabin bags to check for the allowances.
Spring for a new book. What's $15 or so in the larger context of what you'll be paying? And information really does change from year to year.
The ATVO bus goes to the Piazalle Roma on the main island. From there, you walk over to the vaporetto stop and take the wonderful water buses to wherever you wish to go in the area.
grazie! i found the website for ATVO. looks easy enough. kate
