Trento, Rome & Possibly Venice in 10 days

Hi There,

I'm traveling alone to Italy in early November for 10 days excluding flights! (I'm in my mid-late 20's) I'm planning on visiting family in Trento for the first 5 days and then venturing off on my own for the other 5! I have been to northern Italy before (including Venice briefly which I quite enjoyed). My travel agent booked me to fly out of Verona by mistake- we are trying to fix this but I might be stuck with it. SO that's all to say that I'd love any suggestions for places to visit that will eventually lead me out of either Verona or Rome.

  1. Fire your TA.
  2. Head to Rome by train from Trento. 5 days is just about right for Rome.
  3. If necessary, train to your departure city the day before departure.

CJean nailed it!

You only have time for one more destination with your remaining time. Better to count nights: Is it 4 nights or 5?

Rome is a better option in November and if you've never been, well, you must! As CJean says, even if you are stuck with the Verona departure, you can take a high-speed train there your last day, spend a couple of hours roaming there and spend the night before your flight.

If your agent made the mistake, then the agency must fix it, at its expense, or you should file a claim with their insurance agent.

Presumably you are in the US, so another alternative is to file an action in small claims court. The cost of airfare from Rome to most anywhere in the US is likely to be within the small claims court limits in most jurisdictions.

Hi!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions! I'm actually from Canada! I'm not to concerned about the TA situation as it'll sort it's self out.

I'm more so looking for excursions, restaurants, sight-seeing in any cities near rome or verona. Anything helps!

You're in Trento in kind of a "tween" time. Verona has a great Christmas Market in December, and Trento's is nothing to sneeze at. But darn, you're there too soon.
Easy train ride down to Rome and back, and you will be traveling through Bologna and Florence, You could stop in one of those cities, even for a few hours along the way.

I am somewhat doubtful about November weather in northern Italy, but I enjoyed both Padua and Vicenza a couple of summers ago. Verona gets good reviews, but I haven't been there. Any of those those spots would be workable if you somehow end up flying out of Verona. Padua definitely could fill more than a day (Scrovegni Chapel requires a timed entry ticket); Vicenza is smaller.

One thing I really loved in Verona was the Giardino Giusti, across the river from the center of town, but still easy to walk to.
