TrenItalia website vs Info Treni iPad app differences

This past winter the train search results for the trenitalia website and the i/nfoTreni iPad app would always give the same train results. Then sometime in the recent past, the website underwent a change. Now the website results are only a subset of the iPad app results. So what can you believe about any train schedule now? Help....we leave in a few weeks. thanks

Steve, I'd suggest using the Trenitalia website for information rather than the Info Treni App. Although the website is undergoing "renovation", it should be a more accurate source in comparison to App's. You shouldn't have any trouble finding information in areas where Wi-Fi is accessible. Happy travels!

Thanks for tips. I did some additional route requests. What I had been doing, was an evening departure from Lucca to Levanto. Typically the travel involved two changes. So I backed off of getting to Levanto on the route request to only a Lucca to La Spezia request. Then the trenitalia website results and the iPad Info Treni results matched. As it is we use the online results really for planning. We wait totally to buy our few one-way tickets on the day. Tell me more about the availablity now of wifi. I heard that to use wifi at McDonalds that you needed to have an Italian based mobile phone to get a password code. Any other easier free wifi's out there?

WiFi options in Italy are growing dramatically. Yet, in smaller villages you may still encounter some "limited" WiFi signals. Fortunately, many cafe's, bars, etc. are now offering this service. And there are always plenty of internet cafes in larger cities that offer WiFI - although it usually costs more than using their in-house computers. Yes, McDonald's and other "corporations" are starting to require that you register - and to register you need an Italian mobile number for the "password" SMS. But there are still plenty of other options for free WiFi. This article, How to Find and Use Free WiFi Hotspots in Rome, can give you some options for Rome... and there are similar locations available for smaller cities and towns. We carry our iPad when traveling and have fairly good success at finding WiFi options.
