Trenitalia website problems (surprise!!)

I'm trying to figure out of a France/Italy pass is better than individual tickets (since I need 2 segments, one quite expensive, in France). I can't get the Trenitalia website to recognize station names, nor can I find a list of how they want the stations named. Any suggestions? I'm trying to find prices for the following segments: --Milan (any station) to Venice on Sept 26 (it doesn't recognize Venice, Venezia, Venezia Santa Lucia, or Santa Lucia)
--Venice to Florence at on Oct 1 (it doesn't recognize Florence, Firenze, Santa Maria Novella, or Firenze Santa Maria Novella; it also doesn't recognize any of the above variants of Venice) Any suggestions? Or any idea what the prices are likely to be? I need to get these things booked as soon as possible. Thanks!

It works for me. What I have found is you have to wait for the site to load completely. Then start typing "Milan" in the "da" box. It should autocomplete and show you "Milano tutte le stazioni" as a choice in red. Same with Venezia. Start typing slowly and autocomplete will allow you to choose "Venezia S.Lucia." Advanced purchase price as low as €38 per person right now, no refunds.

Laurel, thanks. Most helpful. I had, somehow, been on the advanced search page, which doesn't make suggestions (just complaints). Once I got to the main page, as you suggested, it suggested the preferred station names.

It's not Trenitalia's website problem. Even when you have chose English as the language, you still have to enter the train names by their Italian name. Milan is Milano and you will want Milano Centrale. Florence is Firenze and you will want Firenze SMN. Venice is Venezia and you will want Venezia SL. When you type in a few letters, a box opens up just below and you need to choose from the box. Also, don't capitalize anything you enter. The system will do it for you.

Yes, Sherry, you must have been on the lefreccia website. It took me a while to figure out to go to the trenitalia website, where the stations are suggested. At lefreccia (Trenitalia's answer to TGV), if you want to go to Venice, you have to enter exactly "Venezia S. Lucia". Leave out the period, and you get "Invalid Entry". Why doesn't Trenitalia just rent the Deutsche Bahn site?
