Trenitalia vs DB Bahn - Question

I'm trying to get train routes/times for Sun Sept 9, 2012 from Monterosso to Napoli Centrale. I'm getting conflicting information from both the DB Bahn site & the Trenitalia site. The itinerary & times that DB Bahn is giving me is not the same as what Trenitalia is listing on their site. Is it too early to view itineraries for this date? Any advice is appreciated.

For a train identified by a specific number, the departure times and arrivals should be the same for point A to point B on either site. Sometimes they will differ when connections ar required because Trenitalia will recommend one route and DB Bahn will recommend another.

It's not too early to view this trip. It's too early to buy the regional tickets but you can buy the high speed train tickets if you wish. They are just showing different routes you can take. Donna

Why are the times & trains totally different on DB Bahn than on Trenitalia? Shouldn't they both be consistent?

Thanks for the laugh James! The 2 sites are not offering me the same route. DB Bahn gives me a route from Monterosso to Napoli Centrale (via Milano Centrale) that departs Monterosso at 6:55 am but Trenitalia doesn't give me that route/itinerary. Trenitalia offers me a route that leaves Monterosso at 6:20 am with changes in La Spezia, Pisa & Florence and finally Napoli Centrale. I'm not sure why Trenitalia doesn't offer me the same route that DB Bahn does. I'm trying to minimize the number of stops & the DB Bahn route involves only 1 stop whereas the Trenitalia route involves 3 stops & roughly the same overall travel time. Any insights?

The trenitalia solution uses a lot of cheaper regional trains. The cost will be about 63 euros with the mini fare from Florence to Naples. The dbahn site would not give the prices when I tried to find them. If you use earlier dates, like one next week you'll see the dbahn solution is pretty much the same as the trenitalia solution, it uses the regional trains and goes through Florence. It may be because you're looking so far ahead that they are hesitant to give regional train schedules on the dbahn site. Donna

First of all, I doubt that all of the runs on that date are fully posted as Trenitalia refreshes their schedules twice a year. The next refresh is June 10. Even www.bahn.de can't adjust until they see these new schedules. For now, you can look at June 3 and see much of what you will see after the referesh. Second, via Milan is a longer journey. Notice on bahn.de that the journey time is 8hrs 15min. Going south is 2hrs faster. Going south from Montrosso, you will change trains at La Spezia Centrale, Viareggio or Pisa. On some runs, you'll change twice. The fastest run that Trenitalia will show you departs Monterosso at 9:03. Change trains at Viareggio and Florence. Journey time is 6hrs 07mins. Your choice. Change trains once and take 8+hrs or change trains 2-3 times (depending on the run) and take 6+hrs.
