Trenitalia vs. DB Bahn

We are flying into Rome at 8:25 June 29 and are immediately catching a train to meet our daughter in Monterosso. The 10:30 train found on the DB Bahn and on itrain sounded like a good fit. When I checked Trenitalia for fares, this particular train was not listed. This is our first trip overseas... I'm a little lost! Which site should I use for the most accurate information?

The Trenitalia website is the most accurate for the Italian train system. After all, its their trains that they are scheduling. I'm looking at the newly updated Trenitalia website (updated 6/14) and the 10:30 train is no longer there. This run could have been a casualty of the update. www.bahn.de is a great website but its primarily the German rail website and may not have all of the recent updates loaded.

Next, be very cautious on booking a train that requires a definite time and seat reservation on the tail end of a flight from the U.S. Planes are often late. You could easily miss your train. It looks like the next train to Monterosso is the 12:02.

Note that almost all of the runs from Rome Termini to the Cinque Terre go west to the coast and then north to the CT. CLICK HERE to see the 6/29 schedule from 9:00am on. To get there about 30 minutes faster, you could buy a ticket on the Eurostar from Rome to Florence (departs every 20 minutes) and then change trains in Florence to Monterosso. 30 minutes faster and about 25Euro more in fare cost.
