Trenitalia - Urbano Route Question (Termini / Tiburtina)

I'm looking to go from Chiusi to Roma Termini on a monday morning. I see 2 direct trains 7:10 and 10:57 but the train time that appeasr to work best for me is the 8:31 listed on Trenitalia. However that run is

8:31 Chiusi - 10:49 Roma Tiburtina (Regionale)
10:59 Tiburtina - 11:14 Termini (Urbano)

What is the Urbano? Are those like the FR1 Communter trains? I know one of the subways links the 2 stations together also. Could Urbano be the subway? I've never been to Tiburtina only the Termini station before.

Urbano is a commuter train that connects the city stations to the suburbs.
The Metropolitana is an underground subway within the city of Rome. They are two different systems.
From Tiburtina to Termini you can use either: Urban trains or metropolitana line B (and of course also taxi or buses).

Thanks Roberto. For the communter train, if i buy my ticket in Chiusi to Termini the paper tickets I'd get will also cover the trip between Tiburtina and Termini? Or would I need to buy a seperate ticket once I get to Tiburtina for the commuter train.

I know for the Metro I would have to buy a seperate ticket.

If you look at the trenitalia site, it says "It's not possible to buy a travel solution with urban service". So I'd bet you would need to buy another ticket at Tiburtina. Take an earlier or later train for through service to Termini. It's only 0.40 euro more.

Robert,

In checking the Trenitalia website, I noticed a direct departure from Chiusi-Chianciano Terme at 07:41, arriving Roma Termini at 09:22 (time 1H:41M, EN-235, travel solution not sellable online). Although that's about 45 minutes prior to the other one you were looking at, it would be one of the easiest solutions and would save the fussing about in getting from Tiburtina to Termini.

If you'd still prefer to use the 08:31 departure, you could also consider just buying a Metro ticket and travelling to Termini that way. Termini is the fourth stop after Tiburtina ("B" line, direction Laurentina).

Happy travels!

Thanks. I saw the earlier times but those may not work out. If I do take the 8:31 I think I would just use Tiburtina as the final destiniation for the ticket. Then just get a Metro stop to La Repubblica. Couple less blocks to walk from Termini if I get off there.
