Trenitalia time table

I have a ticket on train 585 leaving Firenze Rifredi station for Rome on May 3rd. I had meant to buy a ticket leaving from S.M. Novella station, I'm trying to see on line when that train leaves S.M. Novella (or if it even does leave from there) so that I can just catch it there and just pay the extra euro. Is there a timetable I can look at online? Or should I just take a taxi to the Rifredi station? TIA

The 585 IC train, departing at 12:25 on May 3, follows this route... and takes about 3 hours to get to Rome: Firenze Rifredi (1 2:25), Arezzo (13:03), Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (13:47), Orvieto (14:13), Orte (14:46) and then Roma Termini (15:24). So you can use a Regionale/Urban train from Firenze SMN to go to Firenze Rifredi, take a taxi to catch your train, or try and exchange your ticket (depending on the type you bought). A BASE ticket for this 3-hour ride is about €30 - not sure what form of ticket you have. With MINI tickets still available, you could probably meet or beat this price on a "fast-train" which takes only 1.5 hours.

Thank you Ron and Larry, I see that I purchased a mini price ticket so I assume that I'm locked into that and so if I want to get onto a faster train then I would be looking at a whole new price and not just paying for a difference in price. Am I correct? John

All hope is not lost... if you can communicate your needs effectively. Here's the text from the Trenitalia site on MINI changes. All MINI tickets, including tickets purchased online and with ticketless option, can be changed solely at ticket desks at train stations or at the travel agency where the ticket was issued up to midnight of the day before departure. Changes can be made only once. You are only allowed to change the departure date or time for the same category of train or service, subject to a change fee (equal to the difference to the corresponding full base price). I can tell you from personal experience that this reads well but I've had trouble changing a MINI fare 2-3 times. Of those efforts, I was only successful - at the train station - one time. So it can be done, but Trenitalia is so "stressed now" it might be difficult online or over the phone. If you can head to a train station prior to 24 hours in advance, you might have more luck. There is a change fee which may not make this worth your while. I'd suggest you go at least 48 hours in advance of your departure date if possible. If so, you might still be able to find a similar MINI-eligible fare, otherwise you have to pay the difference and you will probably end up back at BASE price with a change-fee tacked on

Gonzy, you're in great shape with your ticket. What's an extra hour on the train. There's nothing wrong with the IC train. Grab a capuccino and some sandwiches and have lunch along the way. Think good thoughts, enjoy the scenery and you'll have a wonderful trip.

Thank you again Larry and thank you Ron. I've reached the same conclusion as Larry, we'll just have some more time to enjoy the scenery and to people watch. Viva Italia!
